Welcome to West Hancock Ambulance Service

West Hancock Ambulance Service (WHAS) was founded in 1976 by a small group of dedicated individuals intent on providing emergency medical care to the residence of Hancock County.   WHAS is an EMT-Paramedic service providing quality pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation to the west half of Hancock County in rural north central Iowa.  WHAS cares for an estimated 7,000 residents in a 320 square mile area including the communities of Britt, Corwith, Crystal Lake, Kanawha, Wesley and Woden.  WHAS responds to the needs of the acutely ill and injured, with dedication to excellence in patient care and compassion.  WHAS responds to approximately 700 calls per year. Volunteer EMS personnel donate an average of 72 hours each month in run time, continuing education and training.
